The State of Hawaii requires all applicants for licensure to pass the Praxis I (Praxis 1) Pre-Professional-Skills-Test (PPST) to show competency in Reading, Writing (including Essay), and Mathematics.
Hawaii also requires a SSN (Social Security Number) for the processing your papers for certification to become a teacher.
Tests are administered through Prometric Testing Centers Computer-based Test Centers.
The Praxis i Test can be taken 6 times in one year, even if a score is cancelled, one time per month. NBTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards) certified teachers could get a waiver of exemption if approved by the state administrations. For exemption approval rules go to www.htsb.org.
