Teachers in all areas are required to pass all or portions of the Praxis I Pre-Professional-Skills-Test (PPST), for initial certification in the State of Pennsylvania.
There are two methods for taking the Praxis1 Exam. You can choose either Paper-Based, or Computer-Based. For the Computer-Based Praxis i you will need to contact a Prometric Testing Center (www.prometric.org), or a Sylvan Learning Center for a test site near you.
For the Computer-Based Praxis I & 1 Test option, the required scores are:

5720 CPPST Writing 173
5730 CPPST Mathematics 173

For the Paper-Based Praxis i test option, the required scores are:
0710 PPST Reading 172
0720 PPST Writing 173
0730 PPST Mathematics 173

You are allowed to take the Praxis I (PPST) one time each month, up to 6 times per year, this includes any cancelled score. If you take your Praxis 1 examination in the State of Pennsylvania, your score will be sent automatically to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
