The Praxis I/1, Pre-Professional-Skills-Test for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics assessment, is required for entry into a Virginia teacher preparation program. The SAT and ACT scores are allowed as substitutes.
The Praxis 1 is offered two different ways. You can choose from the Paper-Based Praxis I (PPST), or the Computer-Based Praxis I (CPPST).
For the Paper-Based PRAXIS I the required codes and scores are as follows:
0710 PPST Reading 178
0720 PPST Writing 176
0730 PPST Mathematics 178
(No Calculators)
For the Computer-Based Praxis I test the required codes and scores are as follows:
5710 CPPST Reading 178
5720 CPPST Writing 176
5730 CPPST Mathematics 178
(No Calculators)
OR a composite score for each of: 572
You are allowed to take the Praxis 1test one time per month up to six times per year, including cancelled scores. If you choose to take a computer-based test you will need to get in contact with a Prometric Testing Center (@ www.prometric.com), or a Sylvan Learning Center. For registration of the test and other test information go to Educational Testing Services (ETS) @ www.ets.org.
The required scores for the State of Virginia are higher than most states across the country, so let us help you prepare and pass your test the first time. Our on-line test preparation for the Praxis I Examination is comprehensive, including the Reading, Writing (essay portion included), and Mathematics to give you a full spectrum of questions and rationales. Our Praxis 1 preparation site is also convenient and can be accessed 24 hours a day on any computer with internet access.
