The State of West Virginia requires approved teacher education programs to meet their testing requirements. These specific requirements include the passing of the PRAXIS I Pre-Professional-Skills-Test (PPST), in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
West Virginia requires that you report your Social Security Number (SSN) on registration forms to help with the processing of your professional certificate application.
You have two options when taking the Praxis 1 test, you can take the Paper-Based Praxis I (CPPST), or the Computer-Based Praxis I (PPST). There is a limit to how many times you can take the computerized PPST, it is one time per month up to 6 times per year, including cancelled scores.
If you choose to take the Computer-Based Praxis I, you will need to contact either a Prometric Testing Center (www.prometric.com), or a Sylvan Learning Center. For complete information go to the Educational Testing Service (ETS) www.ets.org for Praxis 1 test information.
For Computer-Based Praxis I CPPST refer to the following codes and required scores:
5710 CPPST Reading 174
5720 CPPST Writing 172
5730 CPPST Mathematics 172
For Paper-Based Praxis I PPST refer to the following codes and required scores:
0710 PPST Reading 174
0720 PPST Writing 172
